Yet again another frustrating day with public transport.

Destination: caulifield station

Departing: Melbourne central station

In theory, because of Sunday timetable, it should take approximately 30 minutes to reach Caulfield from Melbourne central station. It took me like more than 60 minutes. That’s more than double the time!!

I arrived at Melbourne central station at 4.05pm. 4.10pm Frankston train was cancelled. I thought “that sucks, but its connex. There is always the Cranbourne/ Pakenham line. The next train was scheduled at 4.17pm. Not a bad wait, but it was delayed for 5 minutes. When it finally arrived, it was supposed to get to caulifield at 4.44pm, BUT it stopped at Flinders street station and it was announced that it was “not in service” and passengers had to get off and change platforms. I wonder why? Considering that it was supposed to go straight to Pakenham.

Platform 6 and 7 at Flinders street was over crowded with people. If anyone even cared to look around it was the platform that had the most people, every other platform had like 10 people… Ok, so the 4.40pm Frankston was supposed to come, interestingly at 4.35pm an EMPTY train that was NOT IN SERVICE zoomed past. 4.40pm no train….. 4.45pm still no sign of a train in sight. 4.50pm, another EMPTY train that was NOT IN SERVICE speeds past commuters as if just to tease them. As the last carriage is lost through the tunnel, there was a big “ugh” and a second later, heads turned and the words “What the hell?” and “Oh My God” could be heard. A lady turned to me and said “This is ridiculous!” Well to answer everybody’s displease, a train finally turns up.

I thought it was the end of the horror, this train was supposed to run express from South Yarra to Malvern, but guess what? It decides to stop at every single station. What the hell? Even if the drivers were thinking “this will compensate for the late/delayed trains” it doesn’t really. If it was scheduled to run express, then people who want to get off at those stations wouldn’t get on would they? My guess was right, as it supposed at each station, nobody got off. It just wasted more time. Another comment from a passenger “Wasn’t this supposed to run express?”

Time of arrival to Caulfield around 5.10pm.

Imagine my frustration, what about all those people who live on the Frankston line? At least at Caulfield I could catch either Frankston or Cranbourne/Pakenham lines.

hahahahaha. God I hate using trains in particular. And the sad thing about this is that with this crap public transport system, the government is basically forcing commuters into their cars which is a whole lotta pollution.
